    The most important lines/routes to know about Budapest's public transport:

    • the 3 metro lines:

      • M1 (runs under Andrássy boulevard)

      • M2 (east-west line, from KELETI station to the center and goes to Buda)

      • M3 (north-south line, needed for going to the airport)
      • all the 3 lines crosses at Deák Ferenc tér station

    • important tram lines:

    • tram 4/6 - runs frequently along the Grand Circular Road starts in Buda, goes all through the center of Pest and ends in Buda, in the night it turns into a night bus 906 - which does the same route
    • tram 2 - runs along the Danube on the Pest side
    • tram 19/41 - runs along the Danube on the Buda side
    • tram 47/49 - connects south Buda with Deák Ferenc tér
     
    • important buses:
      • bus 7 runs east-west through KELETI station towards south Buda
      • bus 16 takes you from Deák Ferenc tér or Moszkva tér up to the Castle District
      • bus 27 takes you from Móricz Zsigmond körtér up to Gellért's Hill
      • the combination of bus 200E and metro M3 takes you to the city center from the airport

    • important suburb railways "HÉV":
      • one train takes you to Szentendre from Batthyány tér
      • another one takes you from Örs Vezér tere to Gödöllö
